Both the assertion and reason are true for each other.

  • The bends is a common medical problem which is observed among the scuba divers.
  • In this medical condition, the solubility of the gases like nitrogen and helium gets increased due to the fastly decreasing external pressure when the scuba diver tries to rapidly ascend to the upper surface. This increases the solubility of various gases in our body (ie. nitrogen, helium etc.).
  • Our body negatively reacts with this whole scenario and bubbling of comparatively soluble nitrogen gas occurs in our bloodstream. This can be lethal also.
  • All of this can be summarised by the Henry's law.
  • That's why, both the assertion and reason are completely true.
