both the assertion and reasoning are true

Reasoning is the correct option of assertion.

Please check..first

This should be the answer in my point of view...

Both assertion and reason are false.

• The chemical formula for aluminum oxide is Al₂O₃, and not AlO₂.

• Aluminum reacts with three atoms of oxygen, and not two, to form aluminum oxide.

• An aluminum atom has three electrons in its valence shell. In order to gain stability, it needs to lose its three extra electrons.

• It, therefore, donates one electron each to three oxygen atoms and attains octet.

• On the other hand, an oxygen atom has six electrons in its valence shell. In order to attain octet, it needs to gain two more electrons.

• It, therefore, it accepts one electron each from two aluminum atoms and gains stability.

• Therefore, the formula for aluminum oxide is Al₂O₃.
