Reason- Its combustion releases more carbon dioxide than its bio-degradation. 

  • This is also correct. Since burning of the woods for fuel or industrial purposes releases harmful pollutants which causes air pollution.

But,

The reason and assertion are two different statements and reason is not explaining the assertion. Just it is giving an another fact. So, Option B is correct.
