valency of oxygen is 2- so net charge will be 2- so assertion is true. electrons are negative charged particles so reason is true but the the charge is 2- because oxygen gains electron as it gains a electron the charge becomes negative. therefore reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.

OPTION C) ASSERTION AND REASON IS CORRECT BUT REASON IS NOT THE CORRECT EXPLANATION OF THE ASSERTION
