A) Both the assertion and reason are correct

Tidal energy is obtained from tides and which is of two type.

1) high tide

2) low tide

Both high tide and low tide occur due to gravitational pull of moon towards earth it pulls the water to the highest side and pulls the water to the farthest side by forming high tide and low tide. The gravitational force the moon applies is known as tidal force.

Both the Assertion and the Reason are correct.

Tidal is the energy derived from rising and falling of ocean

Tides are due to the gravitational pull of the moon on water in the ocean

Option A.

Explanation:

  • Tides and ebbs are formed when the pull of the moon on the oceanic waters reduces or increases. The same phenomenon occurs on the water of the rivers too.
  • When the pull is high, it is tide as the water swells in volume and the size of the waves increase.
  • When the pull retracts it is known as the ebb as the waves reduce in size and the wave movement is much lower.
  • Fishermen judge the timings of the tides and ebbs and decide on their fishing activities.
