Assertion is correct, reason is false.

  • Windshield is heavier than firefly.
  • When windshield strucks firefly, according to Newton's 3rd law both windshield and firefly exert action and reaction force.

Answer :-

Correct option is :-

C. Assertion is true but reason is false .

Explanation :-

For Assertion :-

According to Newton's 3rd law of motion, we know that :-

" For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction " .

So when the firefly hits the bus, it exerts a force (action) on the bus. Simultaneously, the bus the will exert an equal force (reaction) on the fly .

So, the given assertion is true .

For reason :-

We can apply our sense to determine whose mass is more, whether the firefly or the windshield.

Of course, the firefly has comparatively less mass than the windshield.

Hence, the reason is false .
