Assertion: When resistors are connected in parallel, the net resistance of the combination always decreases.
Reason: The sum of the amount of current flowing through each resistor connected in parallel is equal to the total
current flowing from the source.

option:
a. Both A and R are true, and R is correct explanation of the assertion.
b. Both A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of the assertion.
c. A is true, but R is false.
d. A is false, but R is true.

Option a) is correct

● When resistors are connected in parallel combination the net/ total resistance is always less than the individual resistance

● And Voltage remains same in the parallel combination current gets distributed therefore the sum of current flowing through each resistor is equal to the total current flowing

\sf\ I= I_1+I_2+I_3

  • Option A is right i.e both A and R are true and R is correct explanation of A

Explanation:-

  • Assertion states that whenever the resistors are connected in parallel the overall resistance is always less than the individual resistance
  • Reason states that the current gets divided in parallel connection.
  • this is the correct reason for the assertion. Hence, A is right

Additional information:-

  • the overall resistance in series connection is more than the individual resistance
