C = B + 0.5

D = C + 0.5

To Find :   total value of the word " maths  "

Solution:

A = 1   = 0.5 * 1 + 0.5

B = A + 0.5 = 1 + 0.5  = 1.5  = 2 * 0.5 + 0.5

C = B + 0.5 = 1.5 + 0.5  = 2   = 3 * 0.5 + 0.5

D = 2 + 0.5  = 2.5  = 4 * 0.5  + 0.5

Value of a letter = Position of letter * 0.5  + 0.5  

M   - 13    = 13 * 0.5  + 0.5  = 7

A    -  1    =  1

T   -  20  = 20 * 0.5 + 0.5  = 10.5

H  -  8    =  8 * 0.5 + 0.5  = 4.5

S  -  19  = 19 * 0.5 + 0.5  =  10  

7 + 1 + 10.5 + 4.5 + 10

= 33
