Answer:

In a right angle triangle,

(longest side)^2 + ( shortest side)^2 = ( hypotenuse)^2

(5)^2 + (x)^2 = (13)^2

x^2 = 169 - 25

x = root of 144

x = 12 cm

Answer:

12

Step-by-step explanation:

By Pythagoras theorem:

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

5^2 + b^2 = 13^2

25 + b^2 = 169

b^2 = 169-25

b^2 = 144

therefore, b = 12
