Assignment from Charles’s law & gas equation
1. A balloon is filled to a volume of 7 x 102
ml at a temperature of 20oC. The
balloon is then cooled at constant pressure to a temperature of 1 x 102
K. what
is the final volume of the balloon.
2. Find the initial volume of a gas at 150 K, if final volume is 6 lit at 100 K.
3. A sample of hydrogen has an initial temperature of 50oC. When the temperature
is lowered to -5oC, the volume of hydrogen become 212 cm3
. What was the
initial volume of hydrogen in dm3
.
4. A sample of ammonia is found to occupy 250 ml under laboratory conditions of
27oC & 740 torr. Find the volume at standard conditions of temperature &
pressure.
5. The pressure on one mole of gas at STP is doubled & the temperature is raised
to 546 K. what is the final volume of gas? [one mole of a gas occupies a volume
of 22.4 litres at STP]
