when a light ray incident on the surface of an object is sent back into the same medium IT results in reflection or we can say is that the bouncing back of light is known as refraction and reflection takes place it follows certain rules which are known as the laws of reflection it is important to know the terms associated with reflection of light light travelling from a source towards the mirror is known as the incident the light rail that is bounded back from the mirror is termed as the reflected ray the point at which the incident ray meets the mirror is called the point of incidence the line drawn perpendicular to the surface of the mirror at the point of incidence is termed as the normal the angle between the incident ray and the Normal forms the angle of incidence and angle of the angle between the reflected ray and the normal at the point of incident is known as the angle of reflection laws of reflection about the loss followed during reflection are as follows the angle of incidence is always equal to the angle of reflection that is angle A is equal to angle or the incident ray reflected ray and the normal at the point of incidence all in the same plane this was all about the law of reflection.
now will talk about refraction refraction is a phenomenon which happens when a Ray of light passes from one transparent medium to another for refraction to take place it is important that both the media have different densities refraction can also take place in the same media if the densities of layer different layers very when a Ray of light passes from one transparent medium to another transparent medium there is a change in its direction this change in direction of bending of light is called refraction speed of light is considered to be a Universal constant in reality however it changes one traveling through different mediums for example the speed of light in vacuum is 3 into 10 to the power 8 metre per second various in class it is 2 into 10 to the power 8 metre per second so light takes more time to travel distance in glass then it would take enough to compensate for the drop in speed it takes a shot a path inside the glass so that it does not take extra time to come out of Glass does light changes its direction while travelling through different mediums there are certain rules that are followed by light during refraction in the rules are as follows when light travels from rarer to denser medium it bends towards the normal when light travels from denser to rarer medium it bends away from the normal when light travels along the normal there is no deviates and that is the Ray suffers no refraction.
