Tagore as a poet

Rabindranath Tagore is a well known poet, playwright, novelist and also a painter. He is awarded with the world's most renowned Nobel Prize for literature, for his poetic work ‘Geetanjali’, published in 1910. It was written in Bengali language and then translated into English. ‘Geetanjali’ is a song offering.  Love, nature and devotion are the principal characteristics of Geetanjali. Some critics are of the opinion that this is not the only finest work of Tagore. He has written many other poems which are full of universal truth.

Rabindranath Tagore is known for his metaphysical thoughts and simplicity. His poetry is a true example of rhythm and music blended with words. He is inspired by the true colours of nature and forces of nature that are invisible.  

Thus as a poet he is not bound by nationality. His poems are famous all over the world and have reached to the common people because of its simplicity.
