Answer:

Indigo planting in Bengal dated back to 1777 when Louis Bonnard, a Frenchman introduced it to the Indians. He was probably the first indigo planter of Bengal. Western Europe was the final destination for the plantation produce. At the time of Britishers in India, Europe was starting to industrialize, and it needed a lot of materials to manufacture goods. Being the power center of the world at the time, they exploited the New World and Africa to industrialized. The New World produced the raw material for industries in Europe. Manufactured goods, of higher value, were then sold both to Africa and the New World. The system was largely run by European merchants. Indigo was the raw material that was used for Indigo dye, Health, and medicine because of its analgesic with anti-inflammatory activity.
