Visual memories are the best memories of a human. Though this memories are short lived, yet on repeated revision of the same the memories again come into focus.

Similarly in this case the after he successfully demonstrated what i had taught him, it may seem that the learning has occurred but if it remains out of practice for him for some time then he will forget it.
