Dear life,

Yesterday while browsing through some old documentaries, I came across the picture of the boy who changed me. I have now decided to write something about him: my messiah.

I used to roam about the dead valleys, with sounds of living things all afar from me. The cool breath of the grass beneath sometimes used to bore me, as it was the only companion I ever had; and the breeze felt as lifeless as it always did. I had liked since long at that time, to scare the already afraid little earthly nocturnes and puny insects: how powerless were they! So lost was I in such ignorance that even the littlest insignificance hit me hard.

It so happened, I was having my routinely walk down the dead valley, with the weary wind around me, looking all the while at nothing specifically at all. Almost as suddenly as the Sun might rise, I made out the shadow of a frail creature amidst the advancing twilight. It was a small human, smaller lot than me of course. I would have thought it only an insect had he not been like he was. Fearless.

Never in my whole life had I come across a soul as fearless as his was. I went to him and spent my time with the boy. This one is so different, I thought. And so he was.

Little did I know then that this little boy, would change the way I saw my existence and foremost, the way I live ever after.

Oscar Wilde, the brilliant wit and playwright, in his 'The Selfless Giant' described the transition of a selfish giant into a selfless one. The Giant had a large, lovely garden with soft green grass, beautiful flowers and trees. The children visited the garden everyday. But, the Giant who returned to the garden, after staying with his friend for seven years, prevented the children from playing in the garden. Seeing the board put up by the Giant, "Trespassers will be prosecuted" the children became sad, having no place to play.

When the spring came all over the country, it was still winter in the Giant's garden. The selfish Giant became worried since, the only people who enjoyed there in his garden were the North wind and Hail. One day, the Giant saw a wonderful scene in his garden, in every tree he could see there was a little child and the trees were so glad and had covered themselves with blossoms. But in one corner it was winter still. There stood a little boy, who couldn't climb up the tree. The Giant put the little boy on the tree and the child kissed the Giant. That melted the Giant and the Giant turned a selfless one.

Realising that the Giant was no more selfish, the children again started playing in the garden. The Giant grew old. On a wonderful winter day, he saw a marvellous sight. In the garden, there stood a tree covered with white blossoms with its golden branches and silver fruits. Underneath stood a little boy whom the Giant missed for a long period. When the Giant approached the little boy, he noticed on the palms of the child's hands were the prints of two nails on the little feet. As a reply to the Giant, the little boy answered they were the wounds of Love. That made the Giant realise that the little boy was none other than God himself. And when the children ran in that afternoon, they found the Giant lying dead under the tree, all covered with white blossoms.
