Sunita Williams (SW): It gives me pleasure to be here as well.
Me: You were a naval officer before you became an astronaut, weren’t you?
SW: Yes, that is true. I love being at the sea. This is what made me choose to become a naval officer. I have had many interesting flights during my tenure.
Me: How many flights have you flown to date?
SW: I have flown over 30 different types of aircraft, each of which was an adventure by itself. Also, I have spent more 3,000 hours on air flying aircrafts.
Me: What made you turn towards becoming an astronaut?
SW: That is a very interesting question. It all happened when I was working with the Saipan. It was NASA who approached me to join their astronaut program.
Me: You have spent many days in space. What is your longest duration here?
SW: I have spent 192 days continuously in space. I have also participated in marathons here and spacewalks.
