Summary of the poem "An Astrologer's Day"

The R. K. Narayan short story "An Astrologer's Day" focuses on a single day in the life of a typical astrologer. His day starts out like any other day, but it finishes with a surprise. When he is going to shut down his business, he meets Guru Nayak, a renegade character from the astrologer's previous existence.  The narrative begins at noon. The astrologer opens for business at this moment. The author explains how he launches his firm. He takes away all of his tools for the job, including charts, Palmyra writing, and cowrie shells. To draw clients, he also dresses traditionally for an astrologer.

On the Town Hall road, he operated his business from behind a tamarind tree. The walkway was the ideal location for him to conduct business because it was densely populated with various trades and traders, including those who sold goods such as medicine, hardware and rubbish, magicians, and clothing. A vendor selling fried groundnuts sat next to him, and thanks to his gas light, he could continue operating even after sundown.

As readers, we are shocked to learn at the end that Guru Nayak and the astrologer are from the same native cities. They used to be good friends, until one day they got into a fight. Both ended up mixing with undesirable people as a result, and they fought. The astrologer attacked Guru Nayak with a knife in an attempt to kill him, and when Guru Nayak fell unconscious, the astrologer threw him into a nearby well. Guru Nayak was fortunately saved by a bystander. The astrologer permanently left his home village and began practising astrology. Thus, he meets his history abruptly and skillfully deals with the problem.

Conclusion=A single day in the life of an astrologer is often described in this chapter of the short novel "An Astrologer's Day." The plot takes a turn toward the end that is suspenseful. The story also makes advantage of the co-incidence factor, in which the astrologer is astonished and finds it difficult to handle the circumstances.
