The colour would remain the same Light green on dissolving NaCl In distilled water and testing pH again as it is a neutral salt and it ionises to give Na+ & Cl- which cancel each other's effect in the aqueous medium so salt will have no effect on pH and it's colour would remain like it was in the first turn.

Incredible29: ur answer is wrong
lakshikaarora11: i feel pity on you to say that my answer is wrong when you've written the same answer. pls read the question properly salt is added to the same solution which was tested earlier and I've written that ph colour would not change and remain like it was in 1st time. pls read properly before you accuse.
lakshikaarora11: you've written it in a wrong way not i have.
Incredible29: oh no dearie
Incredible29: its written that water turns it into light green
Incredible29: n so salt WILL also turn it light green .....it would remain as it was earlier....
Incredible29: SO U R WRONG....NOT ME..

hey
here's your answer!!

A Student tested the ph of distilled water and found that the colour of ph paper changed to light green. He found the ph again after dissolving a pinch of common salt in it.

** The colour of the ph paper will be light green again because common salt is a neutral salt formed when a strong acid (HCl) reacts with a strong base (NaOH) and hence it is neutral.

Since both water and the common salt are neutral, both will show a same change in colour of the ph paper. **

Hope it helps!!
