After the battle of Buxar in 1757, Mir Jafar was reinstalled as the Nawab of Bengal. The battle of Buxar also stabilsed the British East India Company. This war also led to the expansion of British influence from Bengal to Allahabad. The British East India Company also gained Diwani rights [right to collect taxes] from the Mugjal Emperor Shah Alam ll in the Bengal Province.
