Given :

Temperature of the gas (T₁) = 273°C = 546K

Pressure of the gas (P₁) = 380 torr

Density of the gas (ρ₁) = 1.25kg/m³

To Find :

The density of the gas at STP condition

Solution :

  • At STP condition of the gas

         Pressure(P₂) = 760 torr

        Temperature(T₂) = 273K

  • We know the relation   \frac{P_{1}V_{1} }{T_{1} } = \frac{P_{2}V_{2} }{T_{2} }

          \frac{P_{1} }{\rho_{1}T_{1}  } = \frac{P_{2} }{\rho_{2}T_{2}  }

          \frac{380}{1.25\times 546} =\frac{760}{\rho_{2}\times 273 }

          \rho_{2} = 4\times1.25

          \rho_{2} = 5Kg/m^{3}

The density of the gas at STP is 5Kg/m³.
