Given:

Temperature T = 47°C

Latent heat of fusion of the compound= 11.2 kJ/mol

To find:

The entropy change for fusion process.

Solution:

Latent  heat of fusion of the compound: ΔH = 11200 J/mol

Temperature in Kelvin: T = 273+47 = 320 K

We know that entropy change is the change in enthalpy divided by the temperature:

ΔS = ΔH/T

ΔS = 11200/ 320 = 35 JK⁻¹mol⁻¹

Therefore the entropy change for the fusion process will be 35 JK⁻¹mol⁻¹.
