well...first thing of what we have to find: "no. of students passed" and also "in both subjects".
now study the following arguments:
1)first we will find the no. of student actually passed (atleast in one subject)
total student = 100
failed in both = 5 so we get 95 student that passed the exam.
2)now 50 students passed in math + 70 stu. for eng.=120 which is different from value we got previously and this could only possible if there are (120-95) students that passed in both the subjects and we are calculating them two times when adding 50 & 70.
so answer is 120-95= 25 students.
