At a certain time in gir forest of Gujarat the number of heads and the number of legs of lions and human visitors were counted and it was found tha there were 53 heads and 148 legs . find the no. Of lions and human visitors in the forest

Let the no of lions be x

and the no of humans be y

Case I :

x + y = 53 _______(i)

Case II :

Lions have 4 legs and humans have 2 legs. So,

4x + 2y = 148

2(2x + y) = 148

2x + y = 74________(ii)

Eq (i) * 2 - Eq (ii) gives ,

2x + 2y = 106

2x + y = 74

y = 32

x + y = 53

x + 32 = 53

x = 53 -32

x = 21

So , the no of lions were 32 and the no of visitors were 21 .
