Given :

At a depth of x meters the temperature of the water in an ocean is :

= t degrees

At depths below 900 meters , t is inversely proportional to x and it is given as :

t = \frac{45000}{x} degrees

To Find :

Difference in temperature of the water at a depth of 1200 meters and at a depth of 3750 meters = ?

Solution :

∴The temperature of water at depths below 900 meters is given as :

t = \frac{4500}{x}  degrees

⇒Temperature at a depth of 1200 meters:

= \frac{4500}{1200} degrees

And temperature of water at a depth of 3750 meters :

=\frac{4500}{3750} degrees

Now the difference is :

=\frac{4500}{1200}  -\frac{4500}{3750}\\= 3.75 - 1.2\\=2.55 degrees

So the difference of temperature at depths of 1200 and 3750 is 2.55 degrees.
