Aиѕωєя:

❥Ling have to pay $16

❥combination of DVDs and CDs =

  • ( 2 DVDs & 7 CDs)
  • Or (4 DVDs & 4 CDs)
  • Or (6 DVDs & 1 CD)

\Large\sf\pink{ \underline{{\rm{E}xplanation\rm{N}}}:}

Given:

  1. All the DVDs are of same price
  2. All the CDs are of same price

To find:

  1. Cost for (4 DVDs + 2 CDs)
  2. combination of ( DVDs + CDs ) in 20$

☞ Since Aleah buys 2 DVDs for $6

Therefore,

cost of 1 DVD = 6/2 = 3$ ....(1)

ㅤㅤ[∵ Given- all DVDs have same price]

Similarly,

Cost of 1 CD = (Total cost/Total no. of CD)

Cost of 1 CD = 8/4 = $2 ...(2)

\Large{\fcolorbox{grey}{yellow}{Part- \pink{i}}}

☞ using (1) and (2);

Cost of 4 DVDs = 4×3 = 12$

Cost of 2 CDs = 2×2 = 4$

∴ Cost of (4 DVDs + 2 CDs) = (12 +4 ) = 16$

Therefore, Ling have to pay $18, to buy 4 DVDs and 2 CDs.

\Large{\fcolorbox{grey}{yellow}{Part- \pink{ii}}}

☞ Total amount to spend = $20

Let Pierre buy 'x' DVDs and 'y' CDs.

Then,

  • Cost of 'x' DVDs = 3*x = 3x
  • Cost of 'y' CDs= 2*y = 2y

3x + 2y = 20

y = (20-3x)/2

❥{TRICK- since 2 is in denominator so, multiple of 2 will give the real values,other values will give in decimal form}

Forming the appropriate combinations :

if x=0, y = (20-0)/2 = 10 ✖

if x= 2, y = (20-6)/2 = 7 ✔

if x= 4, y = (20-12)/2 = 4 ✔

if x= 6, y = (20-18)/2 = 1 ✔

if x= 8, y = (20-24)/2 = -2 ✖

.

.

Therefore, Pierre can buy ( 2 DVDs & 7 CDs) or (4 DVDs & 4 CDs) or (6 DVDs & 1 CD) in $20.
