The vertical component of the Earth's magnetic induction = B/2

Let the magnetic field of the be equal to B.

Let the horizontal component of Earth's magnetic field be B(h) and vertical component of the field be B(v).

Given , the angle of dip (x)= 30°

cos x = B(h) / B

B(h) = (√3/2) × B

The value of earths magnetic field is ,

B = √(B(h)² + B(v)²)

=> B² = (√3B/2)² + B(v)²

=> B(v)² = B²/4

=> B(v) = B/2

The vertical component of the Earth's magnetic induction = B/2
