Step-by-step explanation:

height of tower=48m. theta will be same in both cases so , Tan(theta)=h/20=48/30. h=32m

Question :

At a particular time, the shadow of pole and tower are 20m and 30m respectively If the hieght of tower is 48m,find the height of the pole

Answer :

Ratio of the Shadows = Ratio of heights

Let x be the height of the pole. Then, 20 : 30 = x:48

⇒ \dfrac{20}{30}  =  \dfrac{x}{48}

⇒x =  \dfrac{20 \times 48}{30}  = 32

∴ The height of the pole is 32m

Note that :

In a ratio both the terms should be of the same kind, but in a proportion, the first two should be of the same kind and the last two should be of the same kind .
