B(horizontal) =1G 10° west of north
B(vertical) =1G vertically downward
Then dip angle and declination are respectively

The  dip angle ‘ y ’ at a point can be defined as the angle b / w the direction of the magnetic field of Earth  ‘B’ and will be horizontal at that point on the Earth's surface .

Hence ,

       Bh = horizontal component of magnetic field of Earth = B cosx

       Bv = vertical component of magnetic field of Earth = B sinx

   y = tan^-1 (Bv / Bh )

As,

 Bv = Bh ,

then     y=  tan ^ -1(1) = 45 degrees

y = 45 degrees
