Step-by-step explanation:

given:

adults : 55%

girls = 0.3

boys = 12

explanation:

let no of guests be x

then adults = 55%of x = 0.55x

=> children = 100-55%=45% of x = 0.45x

girls = 0.3

girls = 0.3×0.45x=0.135x

boys = total - girls

boys =(1-0.3)×0.45x = 0.7×.45x = 0.315x

boys = 12

0.315x =12

x = 12÷0.315 = 38.1

a)fraction of boys = 12/x = 12/38 = 0.315

b)x= 38

c) adults- children = 0.55x - 0.45x

= 0.1x = 0.1×38.1 = 3.8 = 4 approx
