ANSWER :
The authorities of Andaman does not allow any of the people to gather shells from beaches because it is prohibited there.
It is because many of the coral reefs are getting destroyed due to deforestation.
In this Island it is strictly restricted to touch shells as well as corals found on beaches or sea shores.
Any individual if collects shells are punished by the authorities.

1) Andaman is an island, it is known for its Natural heritage and beauty. Many species of Animals and plants are found in this island.
2) The shell which is an protective covering of Snail is being threatened and Snail has became threatened species due to over exploitation of their shells.
3)The shells which is over exploited, results in the death of the Snails. Because, their outercovering shell is no more hence they cannot survive.
Therefore, to protect and conserve the snails species the authorities at Andaman do not allow tourists to collect shells from beaches, which is a good work to protect Nature.
