P(2,1)
A(4,2)
B(8,4)

Let, P divides AB in the ratio m:n

So, the ratio is :
 \frac{ - 1}{3}
===> -1:3

This shows that the point P(2,1) divides line AB externally.

The point P don't lie on the line segment AB... it lies on AB produced.

RishabhRDX: am I right??? I don't know why the ratio is negative
RishabhRDX: the question is technically wrong... it should mention that the point P is dividing line AB externally
RishabhRDX: that's why the ratio is negative
RishabhRDX: try to mark these points on graph and then you will find that the point P is not on line AB
RishabhRDX: mark BRAINLIEST
Pankaj11111111: thanku for your help
