At constant temperature 200cm^3 of N2 at 720mm and 400cm3 of O2 at 750mm pressure are put together in a one litre flask.the final pressure of mixture is????????

Answer : The final pressure of the mixture is, 444 mm

Solution :

Formula used :

PV=P_1V_1+P_2V_2\\\\P=\frac{P_1V_1+P_2V_2}{V}

where,

P = final pressure of the mixture

V = final volume of the mixture = 1 L

P_1 = pressure of N_2 = 720 mm

P_2 = pressure of O_2 = 750 mm

V_1 = volume of N_2 = =200cm^3=0.2L

V_2 = volume of O_2 = =400cm^3=0.4L

Now put all the given values in the above formula, we get the the final pressure of the mixture.

P=\frac{(720mm\times 0.2L)+(750mm\times 0.4L)}{1L}=444mm

Therefore, the final pressure of the mixture is, 444 mm
