At constant temperature the pressure of a gas is inversely proportional to its volume. If certain amount of
a gas occupies a volume of 30 cc and exerts a pressure of 85 g/cm square, then find the difference in its pressure
when the same amount of gas occupies a volume of 75 cc.

Step-by-step explanation:

  • V1=30
  • P1=85g cm^-3
  • V2=75
  • P1V1= P2V2

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the inverse proportion

Let the pressure of the gas volume be x

The volume of the gas => 75cc - 30cc => 45cc

Volume Pressure

45cc 85 g/cm²

75cc x

:- Pressure and volume are in inverse proportion:-

=> 45/75 = 85/x

=> 75 × x = 85 × 45

=> x = 85 × 45 / 75

=> x = 85 × 3 / 5

=> x = 17 × 3

=> x = 51 g/cm² (ans)
