Explanation:

at constant temperatures and mass the pressure of gas is 500 cm3 and 90 cm of Hg. Calculate the volume of the gas at 60cm Hg pressure?

Solution

T0=0∘C,T1=100∘C,h0=50cm

and h1=90cm,

Rate of change in height wrt T=T1−T0h1−h0

ΔtΔh=10040

for height (h)= 60 cm, let the

corresponding temperature be T. Then

T−T0h−h0=ΔtΔh=10040

⇒T−0∘C60−50=104

⇒410×10=T⇒T=25∘C

Answer:

v1 =500cm³

p1 = 90 cm hg

v2= ?

p2= 60 cm hg

we know that according to the bole's law

v1p1 = v2p2

v2 = v1p1/p2

v2 = 500×90/60

= 750cm³

the volume of air at 60cm hg = 750 cm³
