Answer:

75% of valid votes cast =9261

⇒Validvotes=

75

9261

×100=12348

%ofvalidvotes=75%−2%of75%

=(75−1.5)%=73.5%

∴73.5% of total no. of votes =12348

⇒Totalno.ofvoters=

73.5

12348×100

=16,800.

Given :  at election between two candidates a and b all the eligible voters had voted but 4% of votes were not valid

a the winner got support from 52% of the voters and defeated B by 600 voters

To Find : the total number of voters

Solution:

Let say the total number of voters  = 100x

4% of votes were not valid  = (4/100)100x = 4x

Valid Votes = 100x - 4x = 96x

a the winner got support from 52% of the voters

= (52/100)100x

= 52x

b the looser got = 96x -52x =  44x  votes

Difference  = 52x - 44x  = 8x

8x  = 600

=> x = 600/8

=> 100x  = 100 * 600/8

=> 100x = 7500

Hence  the total number of voters = 7500
