1.He was about to die of starvation and hunger as he had nothing to eat. He took a bold decision to seek help from ants to keep his body and souls together. Then the cricket knocked on the ant's door asking for help

2.he wanted to know if the ant would lend him a shelter from the rain and a mouthful of grain. He promised that he would repay the ant as soon as he could. He was sure to die of hunger and pain if he didn't do it.
