ANSWER WITH EXPLANATION:

(a) Numbers greater than 4 in a dice = 2 (i.e. 5&6)

So, Probability of getting a number greater than 4 : 2/6 = 1/3

(b) Number of even numbers in a dice = 3 (i.e. 2,4&6)

Probability of getting an even no. : 3/6 = 1/2

We know that sample space S on throwing a dice is S=(1,2,4,5,6]

∴ Total number of cases (possible outcomes) n(S)=6

Event E: Getting a number greater than 4,

E={5,6}Number of favourable Gases =n(E)=2

∴P(E)=n(S)n(E)=62=3/1
