At Oruma Cooperative Society, 100 kilogram of wheat
grains was bought at 25 rupees a kilogram. 500 rupees
was spent in washing, drying, grinding and packaging. 100
packets were made, to be sold at 35 rupees a packet. 20
packets of powder was spoiled and the remaining sold.
Did they make a profit or suffer a loss in this sale? How
much?

Spent cost Rs.500

Packets 100→Rs.35 each

Packets spoiled 20

Cost:

Wheat 100×25=2500

Other expenses =500

Total =2500+500=3000

Sales =100−20=80 (packets)

Revenue =80×35=2800

Profit =revenue−cost

=2800−3000=−200

Therefore the loss is Rs.200
