Given :  At our camp we were told to make as many different sandwiches as possible.

We had cheese, tomato, lettuce and ham available so we made sandwiches with no filling,  ome with just ham, others with ham and cheese, others with ham, cheese and lettuce and so on.

To Find :  How many different sandwiches could we make

Solution:

cheese

tomato

lettuce

ham

there are  4 products

Each product  Either can be used or not used  Hence 2 ways to select

so Total Possible ways  = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2  =  16

16  different sandwiches could be made

Other way "

No filling = ⁴C₀ =   1  Way

1 filling   =  ⁴C₁ = 4 ways

2 fillings  =  ⁴C₂ = 6 ways

3 fillings  =  ⁴C₃ = 4 ways

4 filling   =  ⁴C₄ = 1   way

Hence total = 16 ways
