Let us consider son’s current age is x

Then his father's current age is 4x

Five years ago, sons age was x+5

And his father's age was 4x+5

But as per the question, his father's age five years ago was 3(x+5)

So,

4x+5=3(x+5) =4x+5=3x+15

4x-3x=15-5

x=10

Therefore, the sons current age is 10

Therefore, the father's current age is 40.
