Given:

At present my age is 7 more than a square number and 6 less than the immediate square number

To find:

In how many years will be 80

Solution:

Let the number be x

then the age in the first case will be:

x²+7

whereas the age as per the second case will be:

(x+1)²-6

But in both cases the age must be the same;

  • x²+7 = (x+1)²-6
  • x²+7 = x²+1+2x-6
  • 2x = 12
  • x = 6

so the present age is given by:

  • x²+7
  • 6²+7
  • 36+7
  • 43 years

So,

there must be 37 more years to be 80 years old.

In 37 years the age will be 80
