LET THE SON’SAGE BE X

THEN FATHR’S AGE WOULD BE= 4X

AFTER 5 YEARS SONS AGE WILL BE 9X+5) AND FATHER’S AGE WOULD BE (4X+5)

IT IS GIVEN THAT THE FATHER WOULD BE 3 TIMES OF THE AGE OF HIS SON

THEREFORE,(4X+5)= 3(X+5)

SIMPLIFYING WE HAVE 4X-3X= 15–5= 10

HENCE SON’S AGE NOW IS 10YRS FATHERE’S AGE IS 4x X=4*10=40

AFTER 5 YRS SON

S AGE WILL BE 10+5=15 YRS

FATHER’S AGE= 40+5=45 WHICH IS 3 TIMES THE AGE OF HIS SON

☆Solution :

Let the present age of son be x

Age of father is four times the age of son

Present age of father = 4x

After five years -

Age of son will be = x + 5

Age of father will be = 4x +5

According to the question -

After 5 years, the age of father would be 3 times that of his son.

=> 4x + 5 = 3(x + 5)

=> 4x + 5 = 3x + 15

=> 4x - 3x = 15 - 5

=> x = 10

☆ Answer :

Present age of son = x = 10 years

Present age of father = 4x = 40 years
