The ratio between the current age of the father and the present age of the son is 7 : 2.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : At present, the average age of father and son is 27 years. The difference between them is 30 years of age.

To find : What is the ratio between the current age of the father and the present age of the son?

Solution :

Let the age of father be 'x'.

Let the age of son be 'y'.

The difference between them is 30 years of age.

i.e. x-y=30 ....(1)

The average age of father and son is 27 years.

i.e. \frac{x+y}{2}=27

x+y=54 ....(2)

Adding (1) and (2),

x-y+x+y=30+54

2x=84

x=\frac{84}{2}

x=42

Substitute in (1),

42-y=30

y=42-30

y=12

The father's present age is 42 years.

The son's present age is 12 years.

The ratio between the current age of the father and the present age of the son is

R = 42 : 12

R = 7 : 2
