or just simple calculation like this

1000 is the current population.

after one year :-

3%of 1000 will increase that is 30

so now population will 1030.

after 2nd year :-

3% of 1030 (population after a year)

that is 30.9 so round up 31

so after 2 year population will be 1061 (approx.)
