let the age be x and y
xy=72
x=72/y
After 6 yrs
(x+6)/(y+6)=12/5
solving the above equation
5x+30=12y+72
5x-12y=42
putting value of x in above eqn
(5×72)/y-12y=42
360/y-12y=42
360-12y^2=42y
12y^2+42y-360=0
2y^2+7y-60=0
2y^2-8y+15y-60=0
2y(y-4)+15(y-4)=0
y=4, y=7.5
age cannot be in decimal
so y=4
x=72/4
=18
ages will be 18, 4
age of younger one after 4 yrs will be 4+4
=8 yrs
