at present the sum of John's age and his son's age is 44 years. after two years John's age will be three times that of his son's age. find their present ages.​

let the Johan's age be x yrs

let the son's age be y yrs

according to question,

x+y=44. ---eqn (1)

according to question

x+2=3(y+2)

x+2=3y+6

x-3y=4. -----eqn(2)

solving 1 and 2 ---eqn,

we get y =10 yrs and x =34 yrs

so Johan's age is 34 yrs

and his son's age is 10 yrs
