Answer:

Present age of Murali= X

Present age of Thenmoli= X+5

5 years ago Murali=X-5

5years ago thenmoli=(X+5)-5

Ratio given for 5 yrs ago

X/ (X-5) =3/2

On cross Multiplying X=15

So,present age of Murali=15

Present age of Thenmoli=20

Given:

  • Thenmozhi's age is 5 years more than that of Murali's age.

  • Five years ago ratio of their ages was 3:2.

To Find:

  • What are their present ages ?

Solution:

Let present age of Murali be x years. Therefore,

➟ Present age of Thenmozhi = (x + 5) years

Five years ago their ages were

Murali's age = (x – 5) years

Thenmozhi's age = (x + 5 – 5) years

Ratio of their ages = 3 : 2

\implies{\rm } x/x – 5 = 3/2

\implies{\rm } 2 × x = 3(x – 5)

\implies{\rm } 2x = 3x – 15

\implies{\rm } 15 = 3x – 2x

\implies{\rm } 15 = x

So , present age of Murali is 15 years and

➮ Present age of Thenmozhi is 15 + 5 years

➮ 20 years.
