at sea level the atmospheric pressure is 76 cm if Hg. If pressure fall by 10 mm of HG per 120m of ascent, what is height of hill where barometer reads 70cm Hg.

In ascent it falls by

120 / 1 cm = 120 m per 1 cm of Hg

So at height of x it reads 70 cm.

76 - 70 = 6 cm difference of reading between sea level and at a particular height.

So 6 ×120 = 720 m would be its height.
