At Station X, there were 850 passengers on a train. At Station Y, some
passengers got down from the train and the number of passengers
decreased by 12%. How many passengers were there when the train
left station Y?​

Nos of passengers on train at X station = 850

Nos of passengers got down decreased at Y station = 12% of 850

Nos of passengers were there when train left station Y = 100% - 12% = 88%

= 12/100 × 850 (Zero zero cancelled from 100 & 850)

= 12/10 × 85

= 12/(2*5) × (2*17)

= 12×17 / 2

= 204 / 2

= 102 passengers

850 - 102 = 748 Passengers

i.e. - 748 passengers were there when train left station.
