Given:

Amount of ethane = 3g

To Find:

Volume of O₂

Produce volume of CO₂

Explanation:

C₂H₆ + 7/2 O₂→ 2CO₂ + 3H₂O

For 1 mole of C₂H₆ 7/2O₂ mole of required

1 g C₂H₆  → (56/30)g O₂

3 g C₂H₆ will require → (56/30)×3 g O₂

                                = 5.6 g

No. of moles of O₂ = (5.6/16)

Vol = x × 22.4mL

     = (5.6/16)× 22.4mL

    = 7.84mL

For CO₂

1 Mole of ethane give 2 moles of CO₂

3 gms of ethane gives 0.2 moles of CO₂

1 mole gives 22.4ml

0.2 moles will give 4.88ml

Answer = 7.84mL 4.88
